In binary code ^ stands for 0 and $ stands for 1. Numbers 1-26 each stand for a letter so you can create words 1 being A and 26 being Z. So if I were to say "hello" in my code it would look like this:
I just used your code for my assignment, Tommy. Your code was overall pretty straight forward and easy to substitute for the normal binary system. Since the dollar signs already looked like 1's, that made is very easy to change from the original binary code into yours. Also, it was nice that your two symbols were near each other on the keyboard so that people don't have to keep moving from one end of the board to another.
